Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic

JUDr. Samuel Vlčan

Samuel Vlčan was born on March 13, 1971 in Partizánske. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava. During his professional career he used to work in the field of law and banking. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Slovenská sporiteľňa. He completed an executive development program for top managers at the University of California, Berkeley, USA. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was also the General Manager responsible for the regional organizational and financial management of Hypo Alpe-Adria Bank. Subsequently, he held the position of General Manager of Volksbank / Sberbank Slovakia.

After the parliamentary elections in 2020, the new government appointed him to the position of State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic on 19 April, leaving on 15 July 2020 at his own request. He held this position even after the appointment of the government of Eduard Heger.

He was appointed to the position of Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic by the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová on June 8, 2021.
